Team Building

Team Building Events

Being a brilliant team player or leader has never been so important. Team work is the driving force behind any organisation; get it right and the results speak for themselves, get it wrong and you’re in for a rough ride. Team building games, exercises and activities help build teams, develop employee motivation, improve  communications and are fun for corporate organizations, groups, children’s development and even kids parties. Team building games, exercises, activities and quizzes also warm up meetings, improves training, and liven up conferences. Great teamwork makes things happen more than anything else in organizations. Empowering people is more about attitude and behavior towards staff than processes and tools. Teamwork is fostered by respecting, encouraging, enthusing, caring for people, not exploiting or dictating to them. People working for each other in teams is a powerful force, more than skills, processes, policies. More than annual appraisals, management-by-objectives, the suits’ from head office; more than anything. Teams usually become great teams when they decide to do it for themselves-not because someone says so. Something inspires them maybe, but ultimately  the team decides. It’s a team thing. It has to be. The team says: ‘Okay. we can bloody well make a difference. We will be the best at what we do. We’ll look out for each other and succeed-for us-for the team. And we’ll make sure we enjoy ourselves while we’re doing it. And then the team starts to move mountains. In conjunction with Ground Zero Adventures, a recognized leader in corporate team building programs and activities. We offer meaningful, fun and unique activities that everyone can participate in. Our approach to training is that it has to be fun, engaging and help change future behavior. Take a look at the exciting options below and let us custom make you and your team’s fun day out!

“All you need to bring is an open mind, a sense of humour and an adventurous spirit!”

A River Rafting experience on the Crocodile River that meanders down to Hartbeespoort dam, with the launch site 35 km’s from Johannesburg based at Broederstroom. Our regular half day leisure trip is approximately 2 hours, but we can tailor longer trips for a full or 2 day excursion. Our rafting trips include grade 1 and 2 rapids with weirs that can   become grade 3 or 4, overall an enjoyable leisure outing for couples, friends, groups, corporates or parties. Beautiful scenery lines the river with an abundance of birds, wildlife and views. Try an awesome safari quad bike trail filled with adventure, and game-viewing, sight-seeing and exhilarating fun. The trails take place on mixed terrain – the trails are not speed trails but there are flat areas where we do speed up a bit and other mountainous areas where adventure kicks in. The quads are automatic and easy to ride and no previous experience of quad biking is required. Archery or Crossbow is a fun and challenging team building event which anyone can master quickly. Instructors are on hand to give knowledge of the apparatus and demonstrate the basics on safe handling and shooting. Once everyone is confident with the basics the participants are  divided into teams competing against each other and individually. We can also make it more fun by adding a balloon filling competition, which ends in the team shooting and bursting a balloon filled with water wins! This is fun and inter-active! This ancient sport of warriors provides a change of pace where skill, judgment and a level head count for more than adrenaline. We’ll create a fun and interactive event where your group will shoot many arrows, bond and laugh!  It’s perfect for all ages, genders and management levels for your employees and clients. The session last for two hours and, under the direction of skilled instructors, will include the basics of archery as well as some archery based fun and competitive games. End the day of fun activities with a scrumptious meal and cold refreshments!

Booking for our trips is essential, running 7 days a week with a possible 2 or 3 trips per day. You can choose the activities you want and we will tailor-make a team-building package. Great fun for family and friends outings too!

Hunger Games

Teams of 2 to 10 members enter the arena with a map! Each team has to tackle the obstacles and puzzles to determine the supreme victor. All members must participate, but only 5 of each 10-member team need to complete certain obstacles as indicated on your map. Some will be physical, some will be mental, but all will be challenging and fun. Victories go to the team that conquers the most obstacles in the shortest amount of time and collect all their treasures for the final bush chef challenge!

  • Max time: 3 hours

The concept

In developing these Hunger Games, we created the next step in the tradition of obstacle racing. The team that wins will possess a combination of fitness, problem solving ability and the ability to work together.

Obstacles and Challenges

You can expect some of the traditional obstacles like walls, and ropes, quads, archery and puzzles but there is plenty of new and different physical and mental challenges that will require good strategy and team work, we keep most of it a secret until the event day to keep the surprise adventure to a maximum, but here is a little preview. The full course has approximately 10 to 15 challenges, some are physical, some are mental but they are all a whole load of fun! including crawling and digging, taking aim, mazes, puzzles, treasure hunt, wall challenge and, if desired, the Battle of the Bush Chef’s to round it off!!!

Venue

Varied venues all with bush, water, trails and trees and an outdoor venue where the final bush chef challenge will take place with a well stocked bar!

Skid Control and Collision Avoidance

South Africa has a very poor road safety record. Last year alone, more than fourteen thousand people died due to road accidents. Education, engineering and enforcement all play a major role in the road safety situation on South African roads, but the single most contributing factor is the human factor, which contributes to 80% of collisions on South African roads. In this interactive fun, yet educational event, we cover the following aspects of driving conditions – e.g:

·  Why do you skid?

·  Regaining of control

·  Under steer / Over Steer

·  Loss of control

·  Cadence braking

·  Front wheel vs rear wheel drive correction of a skid

Theory and practical demonstration is given on a skidpan in a safe and controlled environment, under the watchful eye of qualified instructors. After the event, each participant is issued with a certificate of attendance. Signing of an indemnity form is a prerequisite of this event.
